Meet Sara Swett
Founder & Principal Advisor — Tandaa Advisors
I am Sara Swett, founder of Tandaa Advisors. I have spent over a decade building fundraising systems for African nonprofits — from grassroots conservation organizations in Liberia to youth programs in Tanzania to climate networks across the continent.
Along the way, I have led the proposal that secured $28M from the LEGO Foundation, written winning applications to Hempel Foundation, Norad, Mackenzie Scott, and dozens of bilateral funders, and trained more than 40 organizations on the systems that make fundraising sustainable.
I work in English and Swahili, with competency in Spanish, Arabic and French. I am based in Dar es Salaam, which means I work in the same time zones as my clients, can travel to deliver in person, and understand the regional funding landscape from the inside.
Tandaa is the Kiswahili word for "to interweave." That is what I do: interweave strategy, story, and systems so the funding you raise lasts longer than the next grant cycle.
